Congratulations to Cooper Grant on Being Honored With the Max McElhaney Memorial Education Scholarship for 2025!
Rocky McElhaney Law Firm offers its heartfelt congratulations to an incoming freshman at the University of Mississippi, Cooper Grant. Cooper was chosen for this year’s Max McElhaney Memorial Education Scholarship, and we could not be prouder of our choice.
“We really loved Cooper’s essay, especially his explanation of the Gold Standard of Love in his family,” said Rocky McElhaney. “We are greatly looking forward to seeing what he does in the future.”
About Cooper Grant
Cooper is currently a freshman at the University of Mississippi, where he expects to graduate in 2029. He tells us:
This fall, I plan to attend the University of Mississippi to pursue a major in History with a minor in Religious Studies. I have always been drawn to the stories of the past—especially the courage and complexity of World War II and the philosophy and innovation of Ancient Greece. My goal is to become a high school history teacher so I can pass on that passion to the next generation and help students see how the past still shapes our present and our future. I believe that understanding history, especially through the lens of faith and culture, gives us the tools to become more thoughtful, informed citizens and is one of, if not the most important, things a kid can learn. Attending Ole Miss will give me the education and mentorship I need to make that dream a reality.
In his scholarship application, Cooper shared with us his definition of the Gold Standard of Love:
The gold standard of love in our family is to love in the same way that Jesus did. Slow to anger, not rushing to conclusions, but understanding, patience, hearing each other out before making judgments, and though it sounds cliché, the golden rule of treating others how you would like to be treated.
He also let us know what differentiates him from his peers:
What sets me apart and makes me special is my unique blend of resilience, curiosity, and empathy. I embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, learning from every experience, failures or not. My curiosity fuels a desire to explore new ideas, pushing me to think critically and creatively. Empathy allows me to connect deeply with others, understanding diverse perspectives and creating meaningful relationships. This combination shapes my character, guiding my actions with purpose and integrity. I value authenticity, embracing my individuality while inspiring others to do the same. Together, these qualities create a distinctive presence that reflects my true essence.
